Shopping PSA!!

Here's a little PSA for the fashionista's out there. The popular website Gilt Groupe is launching a new site - Gilt Fuse.

What's the big deal? Well, I love to drool over the gorgeous things that come up on Gilt Groupe, but let's face it, even with the deeply discounted prices, I still can't afford 90% of it! Gilt Fuse will feature much lower prices and a wider range of styles! Score!

You must be a member of Gilt Groupe to get in on Fuse when it first launches though. It's invite only, comment if you'd like an invite.

Kelly & Dennis's Wedding

Kelly and Dennis are finally hitched!
I was a bridesmaid in on of my best friend's wedding a few weeks ago, so perfect time to break out the camera! (and that favorite new lens of mine) Kelly and Dennis have been together for over 11 years, so needless to say, we were all excited to finally see them get married!

Some preparations and details...

We actually ended up doing the formal portraits at an old mansion with beautiful grounds which also used to be a psychiatric hospital :)
My gorgeous besties, Shelly and Nicole.

The photographer doing her thing in the gorgeous light, which I pointed out to her thankyouverymuch!

I kind of love this picture and I'm not sure why. A happy accident I guess.

And since I'm always behind the camera, one of the hubs and I.

New toy!

I mentioned in my post the other day that I just ordered a new lens and I'm anxiously waiting its arrival! It's the new Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S lens. You can read more about it here. It's a fast, reasonably priced prime lens that's great for low light and awesome depth of field.

I currently have the 50mm f1.8, but unfortunately (or fortunately) can only be used in manual focus on the camera model that I have. Which was good practice, but was mainly only good for taking pictures of things that weren't moving. :) So needless to say, I was psyched when Nikon announced the release of this lens, which would auto-focus on my camera.

It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I'm sure there will be much picture taking this weekend! Stay tuned.

Kelly's Bridal Shower

I'm a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's wedding in July. A few weeks ago was her fabulous bridal shower. Not to toot our own horns, but we did a pretty good job with it! :) We decided on a cocktail party theme, and it started a little later at 4pm.

We had 'signature drinks' for the bride & groom, which flowed freely during the shower!

We decorated the tables with large martini glasses with purple LED lights and glass stones & flowers.

The favors were personalized cocktail mix packets, "perfectly blended". You can see them here. See that framed invite? I designed and printed those, pretty sweet if you ask me :) (contact me if you're interested in design services, I'm getting an etsy store up and running.)

The only "game" we had was a how well do you know the groom sort of thing. We had a timer that went off while she was opening gifts; she was asked a question from the quiz gave the groom, (i.e. what does the groom love most about you, etc) and if Kelly got it right, whoever's gift she was opening got a prize. Kelly was very excited when she got them right :)

And finally, perhaps the best part of the evening, was karaoke! It was a hit and everyone got into it. Of course we had to force the bride into a solo performance :)

A good time was had by all! Can't wait for the wedding!

I'm a terrible blogger!

I'm outing myself, I suck at blogging :) It's not that I don't want to, I swear! But I spend all day in front of the computer, so most of the time it is the last thing I want to do when I get home!

So here it is, I herby promise to be a better blogger! :) And I just ordered a new lens that I have been lusting over, so expect a lot more photography around here.

My nephew Dylan

My first nephew Dylan Justin was born on January 5th and I just can't get enough of him. I can't wait until he starts smiling and has his own personality.

The happy family:

Fearless Bride

Back in September, I did a psuedo-trash the dress session with Rachel from Merge Weddings. She was offering free sessions for a project she is calling Juxtaposition. Once I heard free, you know I jumped on that! Rachel is great and we had so much fun together. She going to produce a coffee table book and there will a gallery showing. We were scheduled to shoot around the Wellesley College campus. It downpoured most of the day, and we couldn't reschedule, so we just went with it. A lot of these images came from the student center and one of the bathrooms in there!
